ACTIVITIES AT A GLANCE

A number of cultural events were organized during the year to give a pleasant break to the students, a leave from the hectic study schedule, and a sure treat for the eyes and ears.

 

Fresher’s Party 

At MERI, modernity blends with tradition. The Fresher’s Party which is organized every year for the new batch of all courses perfectly exemplifies that. The Fresher’s are welcomed in the Party in a traditional manner of putting ‘Tilak’ on the forehead and by preparing colorful Rangoli on the floor. On the other hand, a touch of modernity is also given by welcoming them with Rose Buds and ending the party with a shaking on the floor – the Jam Session.  

Teacher’s Day

Inspite of the hectic schedule and pressure of studies, the students celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5^th September every year with great zeal and enthusiasm. There are series of events like games for teachers, skits and dance which make the day enjoyable & memorable.  

 Dance Competition 

            Dance Competition is one of the most happening events for the Merians. The students perform various types of dances like salsa, bhangra, western, classical etc. No doubt it is the most awaited event of the year. 

 Voltaface

It is an event to horne the communication skills of the student. In Voltaface a topic is given on the spot and they had to speak in favour and against as well, switching their motion as the bell rang.  

Collage Making

The students who are creative can participate in this event. Collage Making requires participants to use magazine cuttings and prepare a collage on a topic given to them.

  Antakshari

Antakshari is a very special and enjoyable event at MERI. It  consists of various rounds : Alphabet Round, Mukhda-Antara Round, Situation Round, Dhun Round & Audio Round & Audio-Visual Round. This audience do not loose interest until the end as each round has a special question for the audience also by answering which they can win chocolates.

Quiz

           A multifarious Quiz is organized in every session which covered Questions from all the streams through its various rounds: Management, IT, Current Affairs, Science, etc. Four teams having 2 students each are short-listed after a Written Test. The students who are short-listed after the Written Test are the real gems & thus, their teams are rightly named as Sapphire, Topaz, Pearls & Diamonds.

The participants as well as the audience gain a lot from this Quiz by getting insights on the above mentioned fields.  

Talent Hunt Show

           A Talent Hunt Show is organized every year in the month of August to explore the talent of the students. The students can perform anything of their choice & the best talent is aptly rewarded. As there is a vast pool of talent available in MERI, it becomes difficult for the judges to declare the Prize Winners.

         
1-Minute Game Show

          It is quite essential to teach time-management skills to the students in the present era of tough competition. Keeping the above purpose in mind, a 1-Minute Game Show is arranged in which the participants have to complete each activity given to them in 1 minute. The various tasks given to them are putting thread in needle, inflating the balloons, cutting onions, lighting candles, eating rasgullas etc.
