Annual IT Seminar at MERI- APRENDEMOS 2007

 

The theme for this year’s seminar was “Hacking : wen samurais @ play…”

 

The seminar started with the lighting of the lamp by Honorable Chief Guest Mr. I.P Aggarwal Chairman , Triveni Educational and Social Welfare Society ,New Delhi, Mr. Lalit Aggarwal Vice- President MERI ,Prof. Y.L Grover Director-General MERI, Dr. V.K Kapoor Director MERICAT,  Dr D.K Sharma Head-Placement MERI, Prof. A.K Aggarwal Dean (Management), MERI. The seminar was graced by the thoughts of Mr. I.P Aggarwal. He emphasized on the need of sharpening the technical skills to face the challenges. His speech immensely motivated the students to work harder to achieve their goals. 

 

The 1^st technical session was presented by Mr. Sumit Grover, Manager, RISCS Group. The topic of the session was “Wireless Networks- A Hacker’s Paradise”. He discussed in detail about security issues like threats to authentication, the remedies to these threats, the deadly sins on the part of developers and the techniques of securing data.

 

The 2^nd technical session was presented by Mr. Anup Girdhar, CEO, Sedulity Solutions & Technologies. The topic of the session was “Financial Frauds & ATM Hacking”. He discussed in detail about the nature of cyber attacks and security, ethical hacking and phishing attacks.

 

The 3^rd technical session was again presented by Mr. Anup Girdhar, CEO, Sedulity Solutions & Technologies. The topic of the session was “Mobile Phone Hacking”. He discussed in detail about the mobile phone hacking, operating system & office application attacks and steganography.

 

All the Technical Sessions were followed by lively interactive question answers.

 

The last session was an Inter College IT Quiz ‘CATECHIZE 2007’. Students from 10 colleges including MERI participated. The colleges were namely NSIT Dwarka, C.P. Jain Institute for Higher Studies Narela,  DIAS Rohini, DCAS Vikaspuri, School of Computer Science Lodhi Road, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management Studies R.K.Puram, BVICAM Paschim Vihar, HMR Institute Hamidpur, and GIBS Rohini.

 

The quiz was won by the team from Management Education & Research Institute(MERI).They were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1500. The second prize of Rs.1000 went to Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Dwarka. The Prizes were awarded by Prof. Y.L Grover. He also thanked the Students and Faculties of various Institutes for their active participation.

 

The seminar was coordinated by Ms. Ritu Aggarwal and Mr. Sumit Chauhan(Faculty members).
